Xan Coppinger is a musician, DJ, podcast producer, and radio presenter with a background in neuroscience, musicology and lived-experience advocacy in the mental-health sector. They practice on and pay respects to the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people in Naarm.
Through these various methodologies of sound, Xan utilises the practice of audio documentation to better understand internal, external, and interpersonal environments. Through the lens of conversation, storytelling, ecoacoustics, and soundscape studies they seek to inhabit avenues of creativity, accountability, criticality, and healing. Their practice hopes to contribute to the dismantling of systemic demarcations, to share knowledge and resources, and to both learn and unlearn. They are drawn and devoted to the words and sounds of interdisciplinary collaboration, of open discourse, and to the ever-present music of our surrounding environment.
