Interview

Favourite record at the moment and why?

My favourite record at the moment is one by Dana Kelley called the D.K.M.A. EP. It has been a favourite for a long time but I was lucky enough to acquire it a couple of months ago - my brothers bought it for my birthday. So not only is the music transformative but it's made more special because it was a very thoughtful gift.

Your share house cooks for each other every night, how has the cooking game stepped up during covid and what’s the winning dish so far?

The biggest step up early on during lockdown was acquiring a smoker. We did smoked chickens quite a few times which was a serious winner and even attempted a brisket which involved waking up at 5am to get it going and not eating till 9pm. However, the highlight dish has been my housemate Dave's numerous iterations of Hainanese chicken rice, each one better than the last.

What’s your favourite swimming style and why is it backstroke?

I think Douglas Street has some bad mail on my favourite swimming style, which is not backstroke, and I'm racking my brain to remember when I made intimations to the contrary. It's definitely breaststroke, which is the perfect combination of relaxed but effective.
