Waxlily is a befitting representation of my love for blissful, evocative, colourful and charming sounds whether that be found in striking electro, expansive ambient or microhouse groovers.
I adore the unique and quirky beauty of Australian botanicals so I reinterpreted the Geraldton waxflower (Chamelaucium uncinatum) to Waxlily. The 'lily' part is an interesting one. As a tiny bopper, I was put to the task to help name my youngest brother, Riley. If he was a girl, he was to be Lily. I've loved the name ever since and now I can put it to good use!
In 2018, Savvy B started out as the token sharehouse DJ for our house parties. I've bloomed as an artist since. Now is the perfect juncture to pursue a new path. Also, this alias is going to push me to build my record collection and play wax in my sets!

My BuyMusicClub playlist represents my most recent lap around the sun — September 2019 to September 2020. Each track or release has arisen through a person, party or place I've encountered and that inspire me for unique reasons.
Last year I studied and lived in Stockholm, Sweden, for half a year. At my last DJ gig there in January, I was booked for a four hour-long experimental set that prompted some digging. At the time, Australia was ravished by the tragic bushfires and it was for this set that I bought the 'Pure Relief: A Bushfire Appeal Compilation' from Melbourne-based label Paper-Cuts with all proceeds split between CFA Victoria's Bushfire Appeals and Fire Relief Fund for First Nations Communities. (I also played Furious Frank's 'Time Frames' from this compilation in my Douglas Street stream).
Other music in this list comes from artists I befriended (DJ Lily, a techno DJ, producer and label founder from Gothenburg), parties I attended (Rébeval's 'Chantage' was spun by French DJ-artist, Rohmi, at Pisica Open Air in a car grave near Paris) or that I listened to while in transit (Air Space Ark's contemporary ambient album 'All Rivers Lead' on the flight home.
The last of the tracks are closer to home including a moody new release from Sydney-local, Low Flung, who used to spin records on the reg at my favourite Bar Rochford and an energetic track from Melbourne-based, Pretty Girl, who I met in March while we mutually appreciated Nathan Micay's closing set the first night of Pitch Music & Arts. In all, a really sprawling range of radiant music absolutely worth buying!
Big thanks to Douglas Street for contributing to the blossoming community and creativity coming out of the uncertainity of 2020 x
