Where It All Began

December 15, 2021

Diving deep into the archives of dusty house and disco records for a journey back to Posture's DJ beginnings.

This mix has the very same records we learnt to mix with and truly is the music that will stick close to our hearts until the end of time. If you're reading this Jack, I love you and this one is for you!

Interview

Can you tell us a bit about the mix we are about to hear?

This mix you are about to hear is a special one for me. I recorded it solely with the dusty records that I learnt to mix on from the very beginning. Jack Woodward and I used to collect a lot of house and disco and got so much energy from the warmth. I wanted to revisit the very thing that brought me into this dancing world. This one is for you Jack <3

You're a co-founder of Velodrome, Eora music collective. How has your involvement in this project helped you grow and evolve as an artist?

Velodrome is the reason I am the artist I am today. It gave me so much opportunity to find new music through events, and feel comfortable taking these new found inspirations to the studio. I am so grateful that the team trusted me to make the music that resonated so deeply with me and putting out that first release has awoken a terrifying passion to keep going!

Where do you draw inspiration from when producing music?

I draw my inspiration from music out of Aus and Europe mostly. I love deeper sounds and have been really inspired by European dance floors recently. My music can be highly emotional so I also take huge inspiration from where I am at in life and how I am feeling. I am a huge softy and that comes out!

For people looking to enter the world of music production, do you have any tips for getting started?

I would say a good way to start is ask for help from your friends that also make music. It is so incredible to see how people you love make such immersive sounds and getting an insight into that process can help you take the first step. Learning isn’t easy but one bit of advice I can give is let the music guide you. Sometimes the best things you make are totally unexpected, and I think that’s amazing. Hey if you find you really resonate with making classical oboe/trap crossovers then just run with it.

How has the entrance back into dance parties been for you after such a long period of lockdown?

The entrance was exciting and terrifying. It took a bit of getting used to but when we all got settled it was like old times. It is good to be back.

What are you thankful for this year?

I am thankful for my friends, housemates and support all around the world. It has been a chaotic year but it is the care, love and friendship that has really stuck out for me and a lot of people. Be kind to people, send that message and bring that dance floor energy whenever you can.

Any projects in the works?

I am working on a few releases for next year but for now they will have to stay Hush hush heheh
